I’m still riding the high from an unforgettable experience: I was recently interviewed on RTP2’s Jornal 2, one of Portugal’s most respected national news programs. It was a moment that felt both deeply humbling and energising, a chance to share my story, my music, and where I’m headed with a Portuguese audience at home and abroad.

Being on Jornal 2 means more than just airtime, it means being part of a national conversation about culture, art, and identity. The program has long been known for highlighting not only current affairs but also the voices of artists and innovators. For me, this was a platform to speak about my roots, to explain how my Portuguese heritage and diaspora experience weave into my work, and to reveal the ups, the falls, and the lessons that have brought me here. It was also an opportunity to connect more deeply with Portuguese-speaking listeners and viewers, both at home and across the world.
In the interview, I opened up about my musical influences and how I reconcile different cultural threads in my songs. I shared stories about my creative journey, the doors that opened quickly, the ones that took much longer, and the persistence it took to keep moving forward. I also spoke about the projects I’m working on now and the vision I carry with me. More than anything, I wanted to show how art can serve as a bridge, between languages, between communities, and between past and future.
Being under those studio lights, speaking in front of a national audience, was both thrilling and grounding. It made me reflect on how far I’ve come and how much more I want to achieve. It was a reminder that stories like mine matter, that authenticity resonates, and that sometimes doors open when you least expect them. It also left me with a sense of responsibility: to represent not only myself, but also anyone who sees part of their own dream reflected in my journey.
This interview is just one snapshot, but my heart is full of excitement for what’s to come. My debut album will be released on November 4th, my birthday, and on the same day I’ll be sharing its lead single, “Salma.” There are more performances on the horizon, more stories to tell, and more ways to connect with you, whether through songs, shows, or even here in this space.
To everyone who watched, listened, shared, or sent me love, thank you. Moments like this don’t happen in a vacuum. They’re built on community, faith, persistence, and your belief in me.
