About this event Camden charity Women + Health is holding a fundraising Firewalk event to light up Russell Square on 30th March 2022. Participants will take on a personal challenge to walk over burning coals and help raise vital funds to keep this service for women and their families at the heart of our community. The sizzling spectacle will be a celebration of the community’s strength and solidarity during Women’s History Month.
Gemma Tighe, Director at Women + Health said:
“To carry on providing our essential services, Women + Health urgently needs support so we can continue to meet the needs of women and families, especially those who have experienced hardship due to Covid-19.
The Firewalk challenge embodies the spirit of Women + Health. Through resilience, empowerment and overcoming adversity, people can show their support for the centre and those who rely on our vital services.”

THE DETAILS
What is a Firewalk?
A Firewalk is where people walk barefoot over red hot coals and embers for a short distance of about 3 - 5 metres. You will not be walking directly on fire. You will be walking on the hot coals and embers. Find out more information from the experts: https://firewalk.co.uk
What does it feel like? Does it hurt?
On your feet: every Fire Walker has their own special experience. Many describe it like walking in hot sand or on eggshells. You will feel some warmth, maybe even a bit of heat on your feet. That’s it.
But emotionally, Fire Walking is exhilarating, amazing, spectacular, and life changing!
Where? Russell Square, London WC1B 5LF. Further details will be given upon ticket purchase.
When? Wednesday 30th March, 6:30pm arrival.
Entry Cost
Entry is £30. Tickets are nonrefundable unless the event is cancelled by the organiser.
Fundraising Target
The fundraising target for this event is £80+ per participant and the deadline for donations is Saturday 30th April. This money will go directly towards funding our vital services. You can find out more about these and W+H below.
We will provide fundraising support to make sure that you achieve your goal. Once you've purchased a ticket, you will be sent a document with participant information which will include how to create your own fundraising page on JustGiving.
What’s involved?
Arrive at 6.30pm for a pre-walk briefing in a nearby venue (details provided on sign-up). This session with trained firewalk specialists will get you mentally and physically prepared to take on the challenge by helping build confidence and courage to take on the firewalk.
Then we will head to Russell Square where the fire awaits (remember to bring your friends and family along to cheer you on!).
Finally we will return to our fabulous nearby venue for a debrief and to celebrate your achievements.
Who can take part?
The minimum age to Firewalk is 18.* We welcome anyone of any gender to participate in the event.
You must not be under the influence of anything that could impair your judgement.
You must attend the seminar at the indoor venue from start to finish, which requires to agreeing to the terms of the waiver.
*There is an option for under-age people to participate, if they bring a parent or guardian, who remains with them at all times and signs the waiver for them.
Is it safe?
Fire Walking is very safe, as long as you adhere to the few easy instructions you will receive at the Fire Walking Seminar. The Fire Walking company is very experienced in doing this kind of event and will do their utmost to ensure everyone’s safety.
As with all events involving fire, there will always be a level of residual risk and we do everything possible to minimise this.
